Type A rest areas are the largest, characterized by their extensive facilities and spacious areas. Facilities offered in these rest areas include Automated Teller Machines (ATMs), toilets, gas stations, clinics, convenience stores, prayer rooms (or mosques), workshops, parking lots, gardens, and restaurants.
According to Public Works and Public Housing Minister’s Regulation Number 10 of 2018 on Rest and Service Areas Along Toll Roads (PWPH Minister’s Regulation No. 10/2018), at least one Type A rest area should be available for every 50 kilometers in each direction. Additionally, a Type A rest area should be at least 20 kilometers away from the next Type A rest area and at least 10 kilometers away from the next Type B rest area.

Under PWPH Minister’s Regulation No. 10/2018, Type B rest areas should be present on intercity toll roads with lengths exceeding 30 kilometers and be at least 10 kilometers apart from each other.

In terms of distance, according to PWPH Minister’s Regulation No. 10/2018, a Type C rest area should be 2 kilometers away from Type A, Type B, and other Type C rest areas. Type C rest areas are only operational during long holidays and around Eid or Christmas and New Year holidays.
