Gen Z, Here Are Four Tips on Maintaining Physical and Mental Health!

A survey conducted by the American Psychological Association (APA) reveals that Generation Z, or Gen Z, is more vulnerable to mental health issues compared to previous generations. According to the survey, about 23% of Gen Z are more likely to be diagnosed with depression, while 18% are diagnosed with anxiety disorders.

What is causing this? The increasingly competitive academic and work environments are believed to be a significant trigger for these issues in this generation. There are some tips worth trying to help Gen Z maintain their physical and mental health.
What are they? Read on to find out!

Get Enough Sleep
Did you know that your physical condition can affect your mental health? Research published on the Umsida website shows that sleep deprivation can make individuals more prone to depression, stress, anxiety, general discomfort, and other issues.
To avoid such conditions, you need to get enough sleep or at least aim for 7–8 hours of sleep each night. If you struggle to fall asleep, try inhaling deeply and exhaling slowly. Do these while closing your eyes for a few minutes.

Exercise Regularly
Take time to exercise daily or whenever you have free time, such as in the morning before work or in the evening after work. Why exercise? Because physical activity triggers the release of endorphins in your body, which help reduce stress. This hormone can even help improve your mood.
Those are the reasons regular exercise can alleviate depression, stress, anxiety disorders, and other conditions. Some options for you include yoga, meditation, walking, cycling, and more. To have peace of mind while exercising, make sure to purchase a Sport Insurance policy from MSIG Indonesia beforehand.

Stay Away from Toxic Environments
No human can live life completely alone. People rely on one another to survive. That is why humans are said to be inherently social beings who always need others. Without the help of others, they might find it difficult to go through life.
While living in a community often fosters mutual support, not all environments positively impact your life. Toxic environments can involve backstabbing, unhealthy competition in the workplace, or other harmful behaviors.
It is best to distance yourself from such negativity to improve productivity and protect both your mental and physical health.

Try New Activities
To maintain your physical and mental health, try engaging in new activities you have not done before. Exploring fresh experiences can help relieve stress and boredom. Need some ideas? Check out a few below!
Bird watching: Want to see birds in their natural habitat? You can go bird watching. Besides calming, this activity can alleviate stress and depression.
Gardening: Gardening does not require special skills. Just prepare a suitable plot and plant anything you like—vegetables, flowers, and more.
Those are some practical ways for Gen Z to maintain their physical and mental well-being. If you are currently dealing with depression, stress, anxiety disorders, or other challenges, give these tips a try.
Good luck!
