Having a Three-Day Vacation in Vietnam? Follow This Simple Itinerary!
Entering the second half of 2024, you must think, “Where should I go for vacation this year?” before the year changes. You might want to consider traveling to Vietnam if you are still unsure. Vietnam offers stunning tourist attractions as part of the ASEAN (Southeast Asia) region.
It is as perfect a travel option as other ASEAN countries, including Indonesia. One city that is a must-visit in Vietnam is Ho Chi Minh—the largest city in Vietnam! Let’s vacation there by following a three- day itinerary. Wondering what to do? Check this one out!
Day 1
On your first day in Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam, you can visit the following places:
- Notre Dame Cathedral of Saigon. Want to take a photo at Notre Dame in France but have not had the chance yet? Worry not, you can visit the Notre Dame Cathedral of Saigon in Vietnam first. This tourist area resembles the Notre Dame in France. There, you will find the statue of the Virgin Mary, Pineau de Betaine, and two bell towers. The site is open from 8:00 AM - 8:00 PM.
- Independence Palace. Not far from Notre Dame Cathedral of Saigon, you can visit Independence Palace—also known as the Reunification Palace. In the past, this tourist area was used as a workplace and residence for the President of Vietnam during wartime. You can see an underground bunker, a dancing hall, and the president’s workspace there. It is open from 8:00 AM - 12:00 PM.
- Saigon River. If you want to witness the beauty of the Saigon River at night, take a Saigon Cruise tour. You will sail along the Saigon River during this tour while viewing the colorful city lights. You can also enjoy a traditional Vietnamese dinner set menu and watch entertainment performances by the ship’s crew while eating dinner.
Day 2
On your second day, you can visit several tourist destinations. Check out the list below!
- Cu Chi Tunnels. Interested in a historical tour? You can visit the Cu Chi Tunnels. There, you can see tunnels that stretch about 120 km long. These tunnels were used as a hiding place during the French colonial era. After exploring the tunnels, you can learn to shoot and taste the food eaten by Vietnamese soldiers during the war.
- Ho Chi Minh Museum of Fine Arts. If you want to visit a museum, head to the Ho Chi Minh Museum of Fine Arts. This museum showcases Vietnamese artworks, such as ceramics, wood carvings, sculptures, paintings, and more. You will also find ancient Champa, Buddha, and Hindu deity statues there. The museum is open from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
- Little Hanoi Egg Coffee. Your trip to Vietnam would not be complete without trying a cup of traditional Vietnamese coffee at Little Hanoi Egg Coffee. As the name suggests, this place serves egg coffee—which was according to history invented in 1946. At that time, milk was scarce, so locals replaced it with sugar, egg yolk, and other ingredients.
Day 3
Considering your limited time in Vietnam and that you need to prepare to return to Indonesia, on the third day, visiting one tourist area would be enough:
- Jade Emperor Pagoda. Not far from Tân Sơn Nhất International Airport, you can visit the Jade Emperor Pagoda. This place was visited by Barack Obama in 2016. According to history, the pagoda was built in the 20th century by the Cantonese community who migrated from Guangzhou, China to Vietnam.
After visiting the Jade Emperor Pagoda, you can head straight to the airport since it is fairly close by. If you still have time, you might want to try some local cuisine, so you will not be hungry before heading back to Indonesia. Well, it sounds like a fun three-day vacation in Vietnam.
