A Glimpse into World Cup Qualifiers
The 2026 World Cup qualifiers for the Asian zone have reached their third phase. From 5 September 2024 to 10 June 2025, 18 national teams across Asia will each compete against other teams in their group to secure one of the nine spots available for Asia in the 2026 World Cup final line-up.
The 18 teams are divided into three groups, each consisting of 6 teams. Group A includes Iran, Qatar, Uzbekistan, United Arab Emirates, Kyrgyzstan, and North Korea. Group B features South Korea, Iraq, Jordan, Oman, Palestine, and Kuwait. Meanwhile, Group C consists of Japan, Australia, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, China, and Indonesia.
Each team will play a total of 10 matches to accumulate the highest points. Afterward, the Winner and Runner-Up from each group will automatically qualify for the 2026 World Cup, while the remaining 12 teams will proceed to the fourth phase and play-off rounds to compete for the remaining three spots in Asia.
2026 World Cup Qualifiers Schedule for the Asian Zone in November
Up until October 2024, 36 out of the 90 matches for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers in the Asian zone have already been completed. In November, 18 matches are scheduled. The details are as follows:

Indonesian National Team in the 2026 World Cup Qualifiers
In the first qualifying match, the Indonesian national team drew 1-1 with Saudi Arabia at King Abdullah Sports City Stadium, Jeddah. In the second match, Indonesia also drew 0-0 with Australia at Gelora Bung Tomo Stadium, Surabaya.
In the third match, taking place in October, Indonesia will play against Bahrain at Bahrain National Stadium. Indonesia will face China at Qingdao Youth Football Stadium for the fourth match.
In November, Indonesia is scheduled to play against Japan at Gelora Bung Karno Stadium, Jakarta, on 15 November 2024. Additionally, the Indonesian national team will face Saudi Arabia again in a home match at Gelora Bung Karno Stadium on 19 November 2024.
